4A Programs
canon City HS
Tigers(1016)
Coach: Matt Schwindt - 2nd season
Returning starters: 7
2024 Record: 12-12
2024 Srs playing at the next level: Brayden Walters - McPherson College, Gabe Renn - McPherson College
Players to watch: None Committed - Tanner Leonard (SR) 1B, Edgardo Cubero (JR) C/2B, Eric Chavez (JR) SS, Trey Schumacher (JR) 3B/P, Rocco Montoya (SO) P/RF,

2025 Outlook: The Tigers have won their league championship 2 of the last 3 years and the scary thing is with many key pieces returning, this could be Canon City's best team yet. The offense returns plenty of weapons that saw 8-9 underclassmen on the field at times in 2024. Paced by Edgardo Cubero, Eric Chavez, Tanner Leonard expect no easy outs from top to bottom in this lineup. On the mound, Rocco Montoya comes off of a stellar freshman campaign and is partnered with John Vendetti and Peter Hershberger. Mix these 3 capable arms with a deep bullpen and pitching will be the Tigers strength. Don't forget Trey Schumacher and his strong leadership. A quality that should not go overlooked if Canon City hopes to bring home another league championship and deep playoff run.

Coronado HS
Cougars(1259)
Coach: John Byington - 1st season
Returning starters: 4
2024 Record: 13-11
2024 Srs playing at the next level: Trey Alford-Gregory - signed with Los Angeles Angels
Players to watch: None Committed - Jett Mills (SR) LHP/OF, Turner Whitney (JR) 1B/LHP, Max Garza (JR) SS/P, Tysen Noll (SR) RHP/OF, Oliver Frieling (JR) UTL

2025 Outlook: Coach Byington will have to replace do-everything player Trey Alford-Gregory but he believes the returning group has what it takes to defend their league title. Jett Mills appears ready to take his turn as the teams number one arm on the mound and top offensive stick in a lineup that graduated half their starters. Billy Ratican and Edwin Gutierrez are coming off solid seasons offensively and the Cougars need a repeat or better in 2025. Max Garza is penciled in at SS but his biggest impact will be on the mound. After losing their top 2 arms to graduation both M. Garza and J. Mills IP will increase drastically. Expectations are still high at Coronado but will they have the fire power needed again this season?

Mesa Ridge HS
Grizzlies (1269)
Coach: Joshua Weise
Returning starters: 6
2024 Record: 13-10
2024 Srs playing at the next level: None
Players to watch: None Committed - Locklen Lemley (SR) RHP/INF, Mykah Clark (SR) OF, Gabe Montijo (JR) LHP/OF

2025 Outlook: The Grizzlies missed out on the playoffs for the 8th straight season a year ago, but there was improvement with Mesa Ridge recording 13 wins for the first time since 2015. Pre-season MVP and two way player Locklen Lemley is back after hitting over .500 at the plate and recording 60 strikeouts on the bump and will be partnered with outfielder Mykah Clark and fellow two-way player Gabe Montijo to make a run at a league title and post season play. L. Lemley, G. Montijo and Gavin Vargas are the teams top arms and are expected to record the majority of the teams innings on the mound. While, offensively Mesa Ridge returns 6 players from a lineup that hit hit an impressive .362 last season with speed and power. The pieces are in place both hitting and pitching but can pre-season MVP L. Lemley lead this group of Grizzlies back to the playoffs in 2025?
