The East Metro League consists of 9 high schools that compete at both the 5A and 4A classification. 8 of the 9 high schools participate at the 5A level while only 1 at 4A. The schools are located in the Denver Metro area on the east part of the city.

Adams City HS
Eagles (1847)

Coach: Dave Rolla - 2nd season

Returning starters: 7

2021 Record: 3-11

2021 Srs playing at the next level: None

Players to watch:  None committed - Levi Deaguero (JR) OF, Roengel Coma (JR) OF/P,

2022 Outlook: Adams City returns 7 starters from a team that finished 3-11 in 2021 and 7th in the EMAC. Top bats will be Levi Deaguero (JR) and Roengel Coma (JR) who both hit close to .400 last season. On paper pitching should be the teams strength bringing back 6 arms from a year ago but the concern is overall effectiveness. The team ERA in 2021 was north of 10.00 and will have to improve for the Eagles to experience consistent success. In a competitive EMAC and an unproven team it is likely Adams City will finish on the bottom half again in 2022.

Brighton HS
Bulldogs (1794)

Coach: Justin Stringer - 3rd season

Returning starters: 5

2021 Record: 11-7

2021 Srs playing at the next level: Gavin Schmeh - Metro State University, Jordan Sandoval - Otero JC, Alek Martinez - Bakersfield College

Players to watch: None committed - Brandon Striklin (SR) C, Bryce Peterson (SR) 3B/RHP, Isaac Rodriguez (SR) SS/P, Brok Eddy (JR) CF/RHP,

2022 Outlook: Stringer thinks the Bulldogs are ready to take a step forward in 2022 and compete for a league championship along with making a run in the playoffs. A program that won 6 league titles and made 10 playoff appearances in 13 seasons has not held the league trophy in 4 seasons and struggled to advance past the 2nd round of the playoffs. The Bulldogs are relying on Preseason League MVP and COBSBL Top 25 Player in CO Brok Eddy (JR) to lead the way for a team that also includes Isaac Rodriguez (SR), Brandon Stricklin (SR) and Bryce Peterson (SR). B. Eddy, I. Rodriguez, and B. Stricklin will hit in the middle of the lineup bringing average, power and speed to the offensive attack. On the mound B. Eddy was dominant a year ago logging 32 IP with 50 K's but the kink in armor could be who will the Bulldogs look to after Eddy. Bryce Peterson (SR) and a group of unproven players will get a look but Brighton's success could rely on their improvement.

Gateway    HS
Olympians (1520)

Coach: Moisés Rodriguez - 1st season

Returning starters: 0
2021 Record: 0-0

2021 Srs playing at the next level: None

Players to watch: None committed - Jaden Walker (SR) CF, Angel Ferrusquia (FR) 1B/P

2022 Outlook: The Olympians will once again have a new coach as Moisés Rodriguez takes over a program that was greatly impacted by Covid-19 when the school chose to cancel the season for both 2020 and 2021. The last time Gateway played a high school baseball game was in 2019, so no current player has any high school experience. Coach Rodriguez's goal is for the team to gain experience and learn how to compete. Gateway has had their fair share of struggles over the years and at this point just getting back on the field is considered a win. Coach Rodriguez will look to Jaden Walker (SR) and Angel Ferrusquia (FR) to lead an inexperienced squad back on the field with a fresh start after 2 years of no baseball at Gateway HS.

Hinkley HS
Thunderbirds (2050)

Coach: Unknown

Returning starters: 6
2021 Record: 5-9

2021 Srs playing at the next level: Ethan Adams - Cloud County JC

Players to watch: None committed - Alexis Vega (SR) OF, German Villalobos (JR) SS/RHP

2022 Outlook: The Thunderbirds will have a new coach, and whoever takes over will get a squad that returns 6 starters from a team that finished 5-9 in 2021. German Villalobos (JR) is a strong all-around player that contributes offensively, on the mound and with good speed is a threat on the base paths. Edgar Alejos (JR) and Alexis Vega (SR) will help offensively as the 2 hit over .300 last season and both possess speed on the bases too. The Thunderbirds strength is their overall team speed which could be a benefit on defense and the bases if used correctly. The team concern is pitching depth and who will pitch after G. Villalobos.

Rangeview HS
Rangers (2109)

Coach: Rick Spriggs - 6th season

Returning starters: 6
2021 Record: 5-9

2021 Srs playing at the next level: Ernesto Caravejo - Colorado Northeastern JC

Players to watch: None committed - Yahir Estrada (SR) 3B/1B/RHP

2022 Outlook: After appearing to turn the corner in 2019 with 13 wins the Rangers stumbled last season finishing under .500. Rangeview has seen a 3 year absence from post season play and may still be a year or 2 from returning. Coach Spriggs returns 6 varsity starters and expects to finish in the middle of the EMAC in 2022. They will be competitive when Yahir Estrada (SR) is on the mound but are still unsure who else will contribute. Offensively, the line-up could change every game until the they figure out what works. 2022 could be built around small gains for the Rangers looking for consistency and building for the future.

Northglenn HS
Norsemen(2050)

Coach: Chris Mann - 4th season

Returning starters: 2

2021 Record: 7-9

2021 Srs playing at the next level: Omar Arietta - Lamar JC

Players to watch: None committed - Daniel Castillo (JR) C, Jesus Castillo (FR) SS/RHP

2022 Outlook: The Norsemen may be going with a youth movement in 2022 as Mann anticipates many swing guys and unproven players will play key roles this season with only 2 starters returning Coach Mann states, "this team is gonna be scrappy and will fight till the end." With most of the teams pitching gone to graduation new faces will be asked to step up and fill the pitching void. Ty Evans (JR) and Tanner Evans (JR) were swing guys a year ago but should be a big part the teams success this year. Tanner will get some big innings on the bump and Ty will be an up the middle guy every game. Daniel Castillo (JR) and Jesus Garcia-Rodrigues (JR) are the only returning starters so their leadership on and off the field will be needed for inexperienced varsity player to succeed.

Westminster HS
Wolves (2350)

Coach: Sean Sullivan - 2nd season

Returning starters: 7
2021 Record: 0-12

2021 Srs playing at the next level: None

Players to watch: None committed - Josiah Moreno (SO) OF

2020 Outlook: The struggles continued at Westminster under first year coach Sean Sullivan as the Wolves finished with a winless season. Westminster has averaged 5 wins over the last 3 seasons and hasn't seen post season play since 2014. However, Coach Sullivan expects that all to change moving forward with 7 returning starters from a team that was young in 2021. The Wolves went with a youth movement a year ago and at times had 7 sophomores or freshman on the field at once. Coach Sullivan's expectation is to win. Team strength will be to roll with the punches and continue to enjoy the game along with young players having a year of experience under their belts. Josiah Moreno (SO) will be the glue that holds it all together and will be a steady presence both at the plate and in the field for the Wolves.

Prairie View HS
Thunderhawks (1871)

Coach: Mark Gonzales - 5th season

Returning starters: 5

2021 Record: 6-5

2021 Srs playing at the next level: Isaac Manaugh- College of the Desert, Marcus Sanchez- Otero JC

Players to watch: None committed - CJ Schomaker (SR) RF, Roman Padron (SR) C/OF, Anthony River (JR) OF/DH, Hunter Blea (JR) P, Trevor Devincenzi (JR) C/OF

2022 Outlook: The 2021 league champs and traditionally one of the leagues powerhouses, the Thunderhawks will lean on hitting and defense while young talented underclassmen get up to speed. Offensively Prairie View welcomes back Trevor Devincenzi (JR) and Roman Padron (SR) who hit over .400 at the plate in 2021 while also relying on young bats in the lineup to contribute immediately. Hunter Blea (JR) and CJ Shomaker (SR) will be slotted as the teams #1 and #2 pitchers with varsity experience from a year ago but the concern will be team power and ability to drive a baseball. That could change with the addition of new guys to the lineup and a year of maturity from last years varsity guys but that is unknown at this point. Either way, Coach Gonzales believes they have some great young talent that will compliment the leadership of their stable upper classmen.

Vista Peak Prep
Bison (1383)

Coach: Jake Rule - 4th season

Returning starters: 5
2021 Record: 10-4

2021 Srs playing at the next level: Jovo Bautista - Otero JC

Players to watch: None committed - Brody Severin (SR) OF/P, Trey Gray (SR) INF, Yancy Morales (SR) INF/OF, Anthony Porras (JR) C

2022 Outlook: Coach Jake Rule has slowly built Vista Peak over the years and thinks his teams experience, most notably on defense and pitching will be the key in 2022. Vista Peak has only been in existence since 2013 and has yet to see post season baseball or win a league title but with a solid returning core that could change this season.

Brody Severin (SR), Trey Gray (SR) and Yancy Morales (SR) are expected to be the spark plugs to an offense that led the league in average last season. All 3 have good speed which could create havoc on the bases for other teams as well. The Bison welcome back B. Severin and Zach Earls (SR) on the mound. A staff that posted a league leading 2.94 ERA and returns most arms from that group. Juan Arrellano-Flores had no varsity innings on the mound in 2021 but Coach Rule expects him to also contribute this season.
